The Worth Of Knowing

Knowing in part | Being fully known

Father(s)

You were the skin and bones
of my theology
before I knew how to read the Word.
The strong hand I held
when my own body felt vulnerable.

You were the mouth
that laughed and uttered words of shame
that left me confused
at how I could be wonderfully made
and still somehow not good enough.

You were the arms
I found a safe place to breathe
when I didn't know
why the Word became flesh
or why I needed to
exist either.

You were the eyes
that held my gaze
until my body knew it was safe.
And then I knew the Word
not just as theology
but as the One who
dwells with my own flesh.

Because of your skin and bones.

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us …”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:14‬ ‭ESV‬‬
