I don’t want to be a Christian liberal or conservative or nationalist or any of it.
I just want to be Christ’s.
I know, that’s so vague and general.
I just don’t want to believe the lie that it’s me vs. the other Christians.
I don’t want to tear the body of Christ.
The war is not actually against flesh and blood – i.e. Christians who have different political beliefs than I do. We are part of the same body. Self mutilating must not be an option even for the sake of the “good” of policies and politics.
The war is not against people, but evil. And first it’s against the evil in my own heart.
We are all image bearers. We will all bow before the same God. All Christians will live for eternity together in beautiful worship of Jesus.
Feed your enemy. Even the Christian across the aisle. Eat a meal with them. See their humanity, the image of Christ, the grace of God at work in their lives. Are their “wrong” political beliefs more important than the grace of God in their lives? Or do we have more in common than we have different? Even if they are wrong – do I believe God’s grace in their life is greater than their ill-informed beliefs and/or sin?
Is God’s grace strong enough to bind us together in one body?
