The Worth Of Knowing

Knowing in part | Being fully known

The Edge of Goodness

While in the wilderness
I refused to enter
the pleasant places
You prepared for me.

I refused to obey the Lord.

In another land,
my body was familiar
with the ache of being controlled.
My heart was comforted
by the predictable disappointment
of half-truths.

But Your promises were my hope.

And then, joyous day,
You brought me out
of that place.
And now I stand here
at the edge of goodness
afraid to enter.

Giants live here.

Learning to trust.
Admitting my needs.
Surrendering a pitiful
version of control.

Those giants.

So I camp on the edge of goodness.
Waiting.
Will You stay?
Will You show me
the goodness of Your presence
even in the wilderness?

“Then they despised the pleasant land, having no faith in his promise. They murmured in their tents, and did not obey the voice of the Lord.”
‭‭Psalm‬ ‭106:24-25‬ ‭ESV‬‬
